August is National Wellness Month!
August usually means back to school and the last days of summer, but we want to point out another important August event: It’s National Wellness Month! Created to inspire people everywhere to focus on wellness and self-care, National Wellness Month also encourages people to commit to improving their wellness by taking a habit pledge. By pledging to habits of wellness, people make a concerted effort to maintain a healthy diet, keep physically fit, get good rest, manage stress and more.
While National Wellness Month and its habits pledge are relatively new, the concept of wellness goes as far back as yoga practices and Roman bath spas. Even in ancient times people recognized that self-care was an important part of life!
