Speaking of Weddings

Gumball Poodle has joined in the wedding festivities by launching these new styles:

They could be fun to sport at a bachelor/bachelorette party.  Or depending on the bride’s style, she can rock a pair with some converse under a dress.  :-)

I’ve got a set all ready to ship off to a friend & his future bride in New York (check your mail, Eric!!).

Groomsmen Socks

A really fun and colorful trend invading the wedding scene is for the groomsmen to wear colorful socks.  {Love this!!} We have had some grooms come into the shop and pick out socks to match each groomsmen’s personality.  Others opt for a more uniform approach, which can still offer a strong pop of color and tie into the wedding colors.  Take a look to see how great they look in these keepsake pictures:

Guys Need Fun Socks Too

I expanded our mens selection in our online shop and wanted to share some of my favorites.  Guys need cool socks too, right?

First up is a selection from Socksmith.  The cruiser bike is my favorite and is also a strong seller in our SLO store.

Need more color?  Enter Sock it to Me.  Monkeys + Argyles?  Yes, please!

And lastly, K.Bell.  They have really stepped up their game with their mens’ collection.  Goodbye boring trout, hello robots!

Birthday Boys

Over the weekend, we celebrated the birthday of these two handsome guys:

Beau and Sawyer share the same birthday.  Pretty amazing, right?  Sawyer’s due date was four days before Beau’s birthday and we would jokingly talk about how Sawyer could be born on the same day.  Didn’t think it would actually happen.  But it did and it is wonderful.

What is not wonderful, however, is that all four of us were sick for their special day.  Ugh.  First week back to preschool after spring break and voila!  (With that said, I can confidently confess that the above picture was taken two weeks ago when we were all our normal chipper selves)

Anyhow, we powered through and had a wonderful celebration at my parents’ house, who lovingly put their good health on the line.  I was able to sell Sawyer on the idea of a candle on his very own slice of Cowboy Cookie cake so as not to spray the entire cookie with the preschool plague.

We followed up the cookie cake with presents and making pizzas in the pizza oven.  I would like to tell you that my pizza was absolutely delicious, but I could not taste a thing.  Darn cold!

Luckily, we are all feeling much better and getting back into the swing of things.  Fingers crossed everyone at the party is still healthy too!

No Thanks, I’m Allergic

…to sports that is.  Okay, not really, but I have never been a fan of playing sports.  I dabbled in a little skiing and surfing, but that was the extent of it.  Put me in front of a piano I am in my element.  Running around on a field chasing after a ball?  Not so much.

For those guys in your life who are into sports, we have a new collection of socks for them to show off their sport(s) of choice:

Appropriately named: Touchdown, Play Ball, Tee Time, and Goal.  What about you?  Which sports do you like to play?

It Started With Nintendo

Growing up, my younger brother Brett played a lot of video games.  It all started one Christmas morning with a new toy: a Nintendo.

He always had the latest console and would easily beat me whenever I tried to play (although I gave him a run for his money on Mario Kart).  He just kept on playing all through high school and wouldn’t you know, ended up going to college to learn how to make video games.

Winning Best Student Game at the Independent Gaming Festival

He now works for a company called Valve and helped design the different levels of one of the biggest games of 2011, Portal 2.

Portal 2 was launched nearly a year ago, yet continues to win awards throughout the gaming industry.  Just last week they won Best Game of 2011 by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

I can’t help but brag about my brother’s success.  I am just so proud of him and what he has achieved by following his passion throughout his life.  He is totally living his dream.  I also may be a bit jealous too, as his entire company is boarding a plane to Hawaii next week…  but hey, he certainly earned it.

Kite Flying

While driving the other day, I noticed it was unusually quiet in the backseat.  I turned around to find that Sawyer pulled a string loose on his sock and was pulling and pulling and pulling.  ”Look Mama, a kite!!”

Once we got home, he insisted on flying this striped kite of his:

Beau caught wind of the Smartwool kite (no pun intended) and could not stand to see a sock unravel.  He promptly went out and bought Sawyer his first kite and they took it straight to the park:

A proper kite for our little guy – and quite the pro!
